When a Realtor Chooses a Realtor: A Review That Means a Little More

When a Realtor Chooses a Realtor: A Review That Means a Little More

There are certain client reviews that stop you in your tracks.

Every testimonial I receive means a great deal to me because behind every transaction is a client who trusted me with an important financial and personal decision. But every once in a while, a review carries an additional layer of meaning.

Recently, I had the privilege of representing a buyer who is also a licensed Realtor in New Hampshire and Maine. After our transaction, she shared these words:

“Devin was one of the best realtors we have ever worked with. I am a realtor myself in NH and Maine, so I have dealt with many realtors over the years. She is honest, caring, extremely knowledgable, and was always there for us when we had questions. I would highly recommend her! It was a pleasure working with her!”

Coming from another real estate professional, those words are incredibly meaningful to me.

When Your Client Understands the Business

Real estate professionals see transactions from a different perspective.

We understand what happens behind the scenes. We recognize strong communication. We know when someone has done their homework, understands their market, anticipates potential issues, advocates for their client, and remains available when questions arise.

We also understand that being a great Realtor isn't simply about finding a property.

It's about providing the information and perspective a client needs to make a confident decision.

That responsibility becomes even more important in a specialized market like Marco Island.

Local Knowledge Matters on Marco Island

Marco Island may only be a few miles across, but there can be significant differences from one property to another.

For waterfront buyers in particular, the details matter: boating access, bridge restrictions, canal width and depth, seawalls, docks and lifts, rear exposure, elevation, flood considerations, insurance, construction quality, and even how quickly you can reach open water.

Two homes that appear comparable online can offer very different ownership experiences.

This is why I have always believed that buyers deserve more than access to listings. They deserve context.

My job is not to convince a client to buy a particular home. My job is to help them understand exactly what they are buying, how it compares to their other options, and whether it truly aligns with their goals.

Sometimes that means pointing out why a property is exceptional. Other times, it means explaining why a home may not be the right fit, even if purchasing it would result in a larger commission.

The relationship and the client's long-term outcome have to come first.

Expertise Should Be Matched With Care

One word in this review particularly stood out to me: caring.

Market knowledge can be studied. Data can be analyzed. Negotiation strategies can be developed.

But clients also need to know that the person representing them genuinely cares about the outcome.

Many of the buyers I work with are purchasing a second home, making a major lifestyle change, or buying from hundreds or even thousands of miles away. There are inevitably questions, uncertainties, and decisions that extend beyond bedrooms, bathrooms, and square footage.

Being available and helping my clients navigate those moments is simply part of how I believe real estate should be practiced.

Choosing the Right Marco Island Realtor

Whether you are a first-time Marco Island buyer or someone who has bought and sold real estate many times, choosing the right representation matters.

Look for someone who understands not only the properties, but also the nuances of the market. Someone willing to give you an honest opinion, even when that opinion doesn't lead to an immediate sale. And someone who approaches your investment with the same care they would expect if the roles were reversed.

Having another Realtor place that trust in me, and then describe her experience this way, is one of the greatest professional compliments I could receive.

To my clients, thank you for allowing me to be part of your Marco Island journey. It was truly an honor to represent you.
